Kendal Jazz presents high quality live jazz to a wide audience at an affordable price. It aims to support the best of local jazz musicians as well as presenting performers with national and international reputations.
Kendal Jazz meets in The Kentdale Suite, Kendal RUFC, Mint Bridge, Shap Road, Kendal, Cumbria LA9 6NY, usually on the second Wednesday of each month. Check the Gig listings for variations. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Most events finish at about 10.30pm.
You will be welcome at any of the KJC gigs and we hope you'll take up our membership offer.
As you will know, the planned June 21st removal of restrictions on public events due to Covid has now been postponed-at least until July 19th. This means that the July 14th event has been re-scheduled and that live jazz will now return to Kendal Rugby Club on August 11th, followed by further gigs on our traditional second Wednesday of the month in September and October with an event on the FIRST Wednesday of November. As we have no way of judging how supporters of the Club will respond to this resumption, and we do fully appreciate that there will be a range of views about attending these concerts, we’ve decided to re-start in a relatively low-key way (not literally - all keys from A to G will be allowed) by booking some of the best local bands for the first 3 months. Following that, we intend to return to our previous policy of featuring musicians of national and international repute. In consultation with the Rugby Club, we will of course be ensuring that all anti- Covid recommendations are met or exceeded. The fairly large size of the venue offers the facility to maintain 'social distancing' if desired and the wearing of masks will be optional.
That’s the serious bit - now let the good times roll, and we’ll really enjoy being together again!
Admission will be £10 per person for August,September and October, after which time we will be looking at a possible return to the membership model we previously offered.
SHOULD THESE PLANS BE AFFECTED BY ANY FUTURE CHANGES TO GOVERNMENT COVID REGULATIONS
WE SHALL,OF COURSE, LET YOU KNOW.
